an inspiring report from a recent Composer/Conductor Lockout!

Locking out the composer and conductor isn’t as hard as you might think. The audience member activists who were helping us arrived at the concert hall early in the evening before the show, locked arms, and prevented the composer and conductor from entering the building. The composer and conductor were given a disciplinary notice of interview like the ones they give to suspended postal workers. It stated that they were temporarily suspended pending further notice. Meanwhile, performers and audience members were welcomed with smiles, coffee, and applause as the line opened to allow their entry. The subsequent composer- and conductor-less concert was fantastic!
