About / Bio
Nikolaus Gerszewski lives and works in Hamburg, as a composer and concert promoter. In the 80s he studied Visual Arts in Hamburg and Düsseldorf. In the 90s he lived prevalently in Budapest, working as a free-lance artist and journalist. Since the 00s, he lives again in Hamburg; since 2003 he works exclusively as a composer; since 2006 he curates a concert-series and co-organizes the festival for current music “Blurred Edges” in Hamburg. His catalogue of works "ordinary music" contains about 50 works for different lineups. His music is being performed by Akros Percussion Collective (Ohio), Ensemble Resonanz (Hamburg), Ensemble Eis (Wien) and various ad-hoc formations. In 2010 he founded the ensemble "sonic update", with Gustavo Aguilar, and the "Van Eden Band" with Oliver Bulas and Björn Benditz.
