Description
Piece for plucked strings in 3 moves (detuning, playing, re-tuning)

3 or more plucked string instruments

 

 

Score / Notes
For 3 or more plucked string instruments.

 

FIRST MOVE
Start the piece detuning the strings while playing at the same time. The players must move the tunning keys together, making some downards glissandi in unisson, each string a time, up to the point where the strings can barely sound a defined pitch.

 

SECOND MOVE
Then each must play an excerpt of an existent musical piece on the loose tunned instrument. The players may or may not play the same piece, but they must start and finish together

 

THIRD MOVE (finale)
The players must re-tune ones strings, now making unison upwards glissandi. They must stretch the strings to theirs limits. The piece is over when the fisrt string of any instrument/player breaks.

 

CODA
The player whose string broke first must throw the broken string as a gift to the audience. All players thank, bow and get out of stage (wherever).
